WHAT IS DRILL SEEDING?

​​A seed drill is a device that mechanically sows the seeds into the soil by metering out the individual seeds, positioning them in the soil, and covering them to a certain average depth. Drill seeding can usually be accomplish by a one-two man crew. The equipment is significantly larger and is typically used on large acreage projects like, native and wildflower seeding.

BENEFITS

Drill seeding protects the seed from being eaten by birds and other animals, and from being blown or washed away. By inserting the seed it will stay more moist and have the best chance of germinating.

COST

Compared to Hydro seeding Drill seeding is more economical, the only material involved is the seed. Current prices range from around $1,000 per acre for Bermuda and $2,200 an acre for native and wildflower mix.
